Impact Report 2023
Since its founding in 2022, Cots4 Tots has been committed to ensuring families and children in Tarrant County have access to "Safe Sleep" solutions. This is achieved through a direct partnership with “The Rainbow Room of Tarrant County,” a resource utilized by CPS/CPI case workers within the DFPS agency.
In 2023, Cots4Tots devoted all its resources to offering vital "Safe Sleep" resources. The impact statement that follows outlines both the qualitative and quantitative efforts undertaken to achieve this noble goal.
Working alongside other charities and generous donors, we've made a significant impact on families and children in Tarrant County. Below is an overview of our outreach efforts and the lives we've positively affected.

Now, let’s see how Cots4Tots helps support the broader and growing need for Safe Sleep.
We define "safe sleep" as conditions under which infants, toddlers, and children are provided with sleeping environments that significantly reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related fatalities in infants. For toddlers, the emphasis on safe sleep primarily revolves around preventing injuries that may occur from falling or climbing out of bed. For older children, safe sleep involves ensuring they rest in specifically designed safe structures, such as beds or cots. These environments should be exclusive to them, offering adequate support, and enabling them to fall asleep and remain asleep safely.

*According to March of Dimes “Safe sleep means putting your baby to sleep in ways that can help protect him from dangers, like choking and suffocation (not being able to breathe), and sudden infant death syndrome (also called SIDS).
CPS & CPI policy states children under 12 months of age must sleep along. Best practice states children up to 2 years should also practice safe sleep. Toddler cots have been a safer choice for children 12 months and older to follow these mandates.

Impact statement from the Rainbow Room of Tarrant County:
● So many Caseworkers and families are relieved to know the Tarrant County Rainbow Room is now able to aide in providing safe sleep options for children ages 1-5 years. CPS/CPI is concerned for the safety of any child up to 2 years regarding safe sleep.
● For the safety of the child, pack-n-play are not provided to children one year and over. For this reason, instances of "Pack and plays" have lower request incidence than cots.
● Toddler cots have provided the option to continue to assist our families with safety and security while the children remain in their home.
